* Do you have your extra pairs of tights?  Do you have your name written in all your shoes & dancewear?

Holiday Show Dec. 17th 5 PM at Southwest Plaza - dancers come prepared the same as for Photo Shoot, in full hair & makeup wearing the dancewear basics required for their class (& posted on the lobby bulletin board). Call Time for performers 4 PM, Show Time 5 PM. The performer’s Call Time is not arbitrary, please be punctual. We must have time to make sure all performers are warmed up & costumed prior to the Show beginning. Southwest Plaza’s Community Stage is now located in front of the escalators at Old Navy, at the Panera Bread entrance. Our “backstage” or costume changing area is located in the old FT Casuals store front – near the anchor store behind the escalators, just past the Community Stage & to the right of the anchor store front. You’ll recognize it as there are dark curtains covering the windows. For safety reasons, as at the Photo Shoot, only Parent Helpers & Staff will be allowed into the changing area. We will have activities for our smallest dancers but feel free to send them with their favorite (non messy) activity. Videography, and for the safety of our dancers, Flash Photography is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.  You may purchase your professional video or DVD of SOTA’s “Holiday Spectacular” from Ninja Boy Productions (order forms were distributed in class, this week, & extras are available at the Front Desk). If you do not know where the Community Stage & our changing area are located, please make a dry run to SW Plaza, prior to the 17th, in order to scope out these locations and avoid delays the day of the performance. The Holiday Show is slated to run between 1hr 15min-1hr 30min.  For any questions, please check with the Studio prior to the weekend of the Show.  Here’s to a ANOTHER great Show!

At this special time of year, we hold our Holiday Parties!  This is the time where we invite family & friends to come into the classroom and watch what their students have accomplished & then join us for refreshments at the end of class.  We will be opening all of our group classes to observation the week of Dec. 19th-22nd.  (When coming to visit, please remember street shoes are not allowed on the Studio floors.)  Due to the Christmas Eve holiday falling on Saturday the 24th & preparing for the Show on the 17th, we will not be conducting Holiday Class Parties for our Saturday morning classes.

Something Special!  Many of our students like to remember our SOTA Instructors at the holidays and present them with a token of appreciation. Although it is certainly not expected, we thank our many students who do so - it makes us feel so special! Most students like to present their gift to their Instructor face to face but we also offer the convenience of having stockings hung for each Instructor in our Student Room. This provides a convenient way for shy students, or anyone seeking anonymity by being a Secret Santa, to ensure their Instructors receive their special something. Stockings are checked every night to maintain security and to ensure that no gifts remain overnight. Thanks, again, and Happy Holidays!(See Keri or our Front Desk Assistant if you’d like special gift ideas for your specific Instructors – some annual favorites are Jamba Juice/Starbucks/Chipotle cards, movie/entertainment passes, fuel & grocery cards and Bath & Body Works Shea Butter Foot Lotion to take care of their dancing tootsies.)

Ups & Up Trials out THIS week!  Up and Up Trial forms are being handed out THIS week - Congratulations to those students who earned the opportunity to progress into the next level of classes!  If you do not receive a form you are currently in the appropriate class/level. Those who are interested in taking their Up or Up Trial opportunity need to see the Front Desk, BEFORE the winter break, to make those changes - the Studio does not automatically make that change for you.

We’re off to teach in Europe over the Winter Holiday Break!  We’ll miss you all, terribly… but, as always we’ll have AWESOME substitute instructors covering our classes while we’re gone.  Keri & Shane will be teaching in Berlin before Christmas, Paris over New Year’s & Genoa in 2012… we can’t wait to meet all of our new students!  (This time we’re not trading up for warmer weather – it’ll be just as cold as it is here!)  Keep an eye out for the postcards we send to the Studio to keep you all updated & we look forward to seeing all you’ve learned, in our absence, when we return in 2012!

Don't Forget, we’ll be closed after we hold our Holiday Class Parties - We will be on winter break from December 23rd-January 1st of the New Year.  Our First Day back to classes will be Monday, January 2nd, 2012!

Lost & Found:  There are two places to check when you have misplaced a personal item: 1. In the Student Room we have a white crate located next to the couch which has quite a collection of knee pads, shoes, socks, shirts, water bottles, brushes, etc. For delicate items like hair décor and jewelry heck the bulletin board in the Student Room under the clock.  2. Also, the hooks along the back hallway tend to collect sweatshirts and jackets which need to be claimed by their owners.  Even if you don’t think you’ve been missing anything you may be surprised… check anyway! We will hold onto these items only up until the Winter Break. After the Holiday Shows we will be donating them to charity.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS & A JOYOUS NEW YEAR!
